Cn Monday, September 20, a police brigade carried out a road check of a badly parked vehicle in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. The vehicle’s papers were not in order and the driver refused to comply, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday in a press release.
After the arrival of the rest of the brigade, the driver of the vehicle became aggressive and finally fled after kicking the police officers present several times, the statement further reported. “The anti-aggression brigade, which came as reinforcements, was finally able to intercept the driver a little further on the Chaussée de Gand, in the direction of the Black Ponds. Three policemen were taken to hospital with serious injuries. They were able to leave the hospital after receiving the necessary treatment. “
Two other police officers were injured more lightly while the driver of the vehicle was placed at the disposal of the prosecution which “requested an investigating judge of acts of assault and battery with incapacity for work towards police officers, rebellion without weapons, threats by gestures or emblems of an attack against people punishable by a criminal penalty, ”specifies the prosecution.
The investigating judge has 48 hours from the date of deprivation of liberty to take a decision concerning the suspect.
