She had not practiced since the drama. Mom of little Maddie, Kate McCann has just put on her doctor’s coat in Leicester. As the Daily Mail learns, the one who had put all her energy to find her daughter decided to join the National Health Service (NHS) to fight against the coronavirus, in the city of central England hard hit by the Covid-19 epidemic.
“She has immersed herself in a full-time job to help people in need,” a close relative of the family told British media, adding that Maddie’s mother is “happy” to be able to help defeat the epidemic. Kate will be able to work alongside her husband Gerry, a very famous cardiologist in Leicester.
For 14 years, Kate McCann devoted herself to the search for Maddie and to associations helping parents of missing children. Since May 3, 2007, in the seaside resort of Praia da Luz (Portugal), his then 4-year-old daughter has not given any sign of life. “We cling to the hope, however slim, of seeing Madeleine again one day,” Kate and Gerry, also parents of twins, said a few months ago. The investigation had a rebound last summer: the German police indeed identified a suspect, Christian Brueckner. Repeated pedophile, he was convicted of rape in Portugal, near the place where Maddie disappeared. Incarcerated in Germany, he however denies his involvement in the disappearance.
