Lhe Jijel distribution concession under the Algerian Society for the Distribution of Electricity and Gas (Sadeg) has started its annual awareness cycle against carbon monoxide by launching a program to remind people of the risks of inhalation of this deadly gas.

It is therefore a question of a large awareness and information campaign in partnership with the media and in collaboration with several organizations on the measures to be taken to avoid this risk, linked to the use of heating devices. A reminder of the imperative need to clean these appliances running on natural gas is on the menu of this campaign, launched in anticipation of the installation of the cold season.

Customers are advised to use only specialists for cleaning these devices before use, as indicated in the awareness materials distributed for this purpose.

In addition to the measures required, the distribution concession insists on the purchase of heating devices equipped with gas and carbon monoxide leak detectors. For a large audience of these councils, interventions are planned on the airwaves of the local radio for the diffusion of daily spots of sensitization on these risks.

It should be noted, as recalled, that these risks worsen in the event of obstruction of the flue gas evacuation channels and the chimneys used collectively due to multiple factors, including the rejection of waste.

It is also planned to continue this campaign throughout the winter season by organizing direct contacts with the customers of the distribution concession and awareness-raising visits to schools and vocational training establishments.

Raising awareness against the risks of inhaling carbon monoxide remains at the heart of these meetings. Fatal accidents and family tragedies are often deplored by the absence of any maintenance of the heating devices, if not by insufficient or total lack of ventilation and obstruction of the evacuation channels of this odorless and colorless gas which remains highly lethal. .
