There are currently 442 people on the Belgian evacuation list, divided into four categories: Belgians, people with a valid residence permit, people who have worked for Belgium and people who are exposed to danger.
For the first two groups, the evacuation is already underway, with Qatari flights from the Afghan capital Kabul. But Qatar only allows Belgians or those with a permit on board. People in the other two categories cannot therefore board as passengers.
These remaining 108 people can choose to either wait in Afghanistan or travel by road to Pakistan, where they can then report to the Belgian embassy. Belgium discourages the latter option because the border region is very dangerous.
