On average, 2,114 people were infected with Covid-19 per day between October 4 and 10 (+ 10%), according to figures from the Sciensano Public Health Institute published on Thursday.
During the same period, an average of 9 people died per day from the virus, up 5% from the previous seven-day period. The toll now stands at 25,726 dead since the start of the pandemic in Belgium.
Some 44,600 tests on average were, moreover, carried out daily, for a positivity rate of 5.1%.
Between October 7 and October 13, there were an average of 57.3 hospital admissions per day of coronavirus patients, a decrease of 3% from the previous reporting period. In total, 779 Covid-19 patients are still hospitalized, including 201 patients treated in intensive care.
