Agents of the civil protection of Rabat succeeded yesterday, Wednesday October 13, in recovering a car whose driver rushed into the sea, from the top of the cliff of the corniche of Rabat, during the evening of Friday, October 8 , in circumstances that have remained mysterious.
After several days of research, civil protection agents in Rabat, managed to remove from the depths of the ocean yesterday, Wednesday, October 13, a car whose driver had rushed there, Friday, October 8, under circumstances still troubled.
Having observed the formation of oil bubbles on the surface of the water, the civil protection teams finally succeeded in locating and recovering the vehicle, a gray Volkswagen Passat CC, found stuck between rocks in the so-called Ank area. El Jabal, opposite the Corniche de Rabat.
Since the evening of Friday, October 8, the moment of the tragedy, civil protection teams and divers have been trying to find this car engulfed in the waves, but the turbulence of the sea, and the nightfall, have prevented from initiating emergency procedures. The next morning, Civil Protection agents were unable to go to sea either, due to weather conditions.
The divers had to smash closed windows and use power saws to cut parts of the vehicle, to exhume the body and transport it to the morgue for an autopsy.
Information from the investigation, still ongoing, confirms that there was indeed a body in the car. It is said to be a 57-year-old man who worked as a general supervisor in a high school in Rabat.
