Brussels local police arrested a suspected drug trafficker on Monday. During a search of the man’s home, considerable sums of money, drugs and cryptocurrencies were found, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office said on Thursday.
The 40-year-old individual was arrested, caught in the act, following which a search was carried out at his home. The man, who was already under probation, had 4,000 euros in his pocket, and an additional 15,000 euros were found at his home.
While 5,000 euros were stored in a safe, 10,000 more were hidden in an ingenious hiding place behind a wall in his bathroom. A USB drive containing cryptocurrency equivalent to US $ 89,000 was also found.
During the search, the police also got hold of 8.5 kg of cannabis, divided into 18 bags, and 900 grams of hashish. Most of the bags of cannabis were found in his girlfriend and their baby’s apartment downstairs, where the odor of the drug was very strong.
Finally, in addition to the loot of the police officers, equipment for the production and packaging of narcotics, four computers, a tablet, seven cell phones, a baseball bat surrounded by barbed wire, a taser and several USB keys that still have to be analyzed. An arrest warrant was issued by the investigating judge against the alleged drug dealer.
