The Acadie-Bathurst Titan fired their head coach Mario Durocher on Thursday, while assistant Greg Leland will assume the pilot duties on an interim basis.

The New Brunswick team has had a more or less satisfactory season, occupying eighth place in the Eastern Association of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. She is 9-9-2, but has won just three of her last 10 games despite the arrival of forward Hendrix Lapierre, ceded to the junior ranks by the Washington Capitals.

Winner of the President’s Cup with the Victoriaville Tigres in 2001-2002 and the Val-d’Or Foreurs in 2013-2014, Durocher has led in 1,114 career regular-season games in the Courteau circuit. His return to the helm of the Titan was confirmed in July, he who was in a fourth campaign in Bathurst.
