Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra: a better screen than on the iPhone 13 Pro?

The next flagships of the Korean brand have still not been released, but they continue to be talked about. Rumors are indeed multiplying on the Web concerning the characteristics of the future range of Samsung Galaxy S22. Recently, it is the slab of the most premium models that has attracted the attention of specialized sites. It is rumored that it could overshadow its biggest competitor…

After finally unveiling its Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G on January 4, the Korean manufacturer should meet again soon to lift the veil on another highly anticipated smartphone. This time it’s about his true flagship, the one that will certainly mark the year 2022 in the world of mobile telephony: the Galaxy S22. Or rather THE Galaxy S22. Because of course, we expect that the future flagship of Samsung is still available in three versions: a classic, a “+”, an “Ultra”. And while their official presentation should take place next month, it is these last two that have again caused ink to flow recently.

An informant calling himself Equal Leaks on the social network Telegram claims to have found a document from a Chinese certification body. Spotted by our colleagues from Phonandroid, this one seems to present the results of a test carried out on the Samsung Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra. More specifically, the test in question would have focused on the screen of the two models. And to believe this one, the two future smartphones would do very well. More than good even, since their slab would be superior to that of the well-known iPhone 13 Pro.

A maximum brightness of 1750 nits on an LTPO display?

In its message posted on Telegram on January 5, with a photo of said document in support, Equal Leaks indeed indicates that the screen of the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra should have a maximum brightness of 1750 nits. It would indeed be much more than that of the iPhone 13 Pro (like the iPhone 13 Pro Max), capable of reaching 1000 nits in standard display, and up to 1200 nits in HDR. Enough to ensure a visible display in all circumstances, even when the sun is shining brightly… As a reminder, the maximum brightness of the Galaxy S21+ was already 1300 nits, and that of the Galaxy S21 Ultra 1500 nits.

In addition, in its publication on social networks, the leaker indicates that the screens of the two future Samsung smartphones would be equipped with LTPO technology. What does that mean ? Well they would benefit from an adaptive refresh rate. While it will no doubt be able to go up to 120 Hz, as on their predecessors, the fact that it is variable would preserve the battery. Because not all tasks require such a high refresh rate, which is particularly energy-intensive. However, on the previous range of Samsung Galaxy S21, only the screen of the Ultra model had this LTPO technology. This would therefore be a step forward for the “+” version of the next Samsung Galaxy S22.

Stay tuned, we’ll be sure to give you news of the Korean giant’s next flagship range as soon as it officially comes to light. Until then, you can still find the brand new Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G, among many other smartphone models made by the leader in the mobile industry, on the SFR online store.
