The accident would have caused two injuries, including the pilot of the plane who apparently used his ejection seat, say the firefighters of Friesland. The other injured person was in the building. The firefighter’s spokesperson could not provide more information on the severity of the injuries. According to witnesses, a fire had broken out in the aircraft. The firefighters overpowered him.

Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder confirmed the accident this Thursday on Twitter. “An incident with one of our F16s took place in the Netherlands. The Defense will communicate during the day with more information. I am attentively following the evolution of the situation“, specified the minister.

In a photo posted by a Dutch photographer, smoke can be seen emanating from the crash site.
