There will be a scent of nostalgia in the air this winter. To everyone’s surprise, the Fugees have just announced their reunion on the occasion of a world tour “The Reunion Tour” which will begin on November 2 in Chicago, after a secret New York concert which will take place this Wednesday evening. Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel will perform in Paris La Dfense Arena on December 4, in less than three months, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their cult album “The Score”. A major challenge awaits the three American artists who will therefore have to gather 40,000 fans in the largest indoor hall in Europe. But there is no doubt that a nostalgic audience will certainly be there! It must be said that this tour marks an event since it will be the return of the Fugees, separated since 1997 before a short reformation between 2004 and 2006.

Ready or not ?

Released in 1996, “The Score” is the second album of the Fugees which has established the success of the three artists. Backed by the standard hits “Killing Me Softly With His Song” and “Ready or Not”, sampled from titles by Roberta Flack and Enya, the disc has sold over 22 million copies worldwide and remains a benchmark. . It was thus the last musical project of the Fugees which, the following year, split up so that the three members could go about their solo careers. Of his escapades, we will especially remember the only album of the female voice of the group “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”, while Wyclef Jean will notably sign a hit with Shakira on “Hips Don’t Lie”. The group will reform in the middle of the 2000s for a new tour. An album is even in preparation before the three members put an end to it, pointing the finger at the behavior of Lauryn Hill completely in his world .

This singing tour will above all be an opportunity to erase bad memories for tens of thousands of French fans, after the two disastrous concerts that Lauryn Hill gave in November 2018 at the Accor Arena in Paris. On the first date, the singer of “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, accustomed to delays, took the stage at 10:40 p.m. (instead of the 20 hours specified on the ticket) and only played 50 minutes, her concert having t interrupted because of too long a delay. The American artist then apologized for his delays in Paris and Brussels: We are working on the small issues related to moving production to Europe, with the time difference and curfew restrictions, we were faced with several challenges for these first concerts. . Tickets for this anniversary concert go on sale September 24, after going on sale exclusively on Live Nation on September 23 at 10 a.m. Let’s hope this time that the concert starts on time!
