Like the flu, Covid-19 and its variants could become an endemic disease, that is to say with which we will have to learn to live together on a daily basis.

Learning to live with Omicron and the other variants is what the European Medicines Agency (EMA) recommends. It even anticipates an upcoming transformation of the virus into an endemic disease with which it will be necessary to adapt. “We must not forget that we are still in a pandemic situation. But with the increase in population immunity and with Omicron there is a lot of natural immunity”, explained Marco Cavaleri, director of vaccine strategy at the EMA.

With more than 300,000 new contaminations per day, France has been breaking records since the appearance of the virus almost two years ago. These high figures could soon evolve in a favorable way. “The peak of the wave is probably for the end of January. We can have hopes that this wave will soon experience a plateau”, indicates Laurent Chambaud, director of the School of Advanced Studies in Public Health.
