After twelve years at CD Projekt designing the quests of the three The Witcher, Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz joined Riot Games to contribute to the development of the studio’s next MMORPG.
Last May, several of the members of the development team of Cyberpunk 2077 announced their departure from home CD Project. Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz was part of the lot and on socoal networks, he says today join Riot Games, to contribute to the development of the studio’s future MMORPG.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz does not specify the role he will play in the MMORPG development team, but his career (entirely at CD Projekt) speaks for him: after a stint with the testers of the first The Witcher, he is named quest designer of The Witcher 2, then lead quest designer from The Witcher 3, before devoting himself to Gwent like narrative designer then game director and finally quest director of Cyberpunk 2077 where he oversaw the design of the futuristic action RPG quest set.
Without going too far, we can imagine that he will contribute to the design of the quests and the narrative structure of the MMO of Riot, to immerse players in the world of Runeterra. Always on the
, Greg Street (who oversees MMORPG development at Riot) sees Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz’s “vision, approach and commitment to epic player stories and experiences” as “perfect for the studio’s new MMO”. While waiting to learn more, we note that Riot is recruiting and is therefore actively working to compose the team that will design its massively multiplayer game.
