More than 4,500 Afghans have received aid – Barlamane

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said Thursday it has provided assistance to more than 4,500 needy Afghans.

Basic commodities were provided to a total of 4,506 people in the provinces of Kabul, Kandahar, Kunduz and Balkh, UNHCR said on its Twitter account, adding that the aid was provided in collaboration with other organizations. In the western province of Herat, UNHCR provided cash allowances to 665 people to meet their basic needs, while 973 residents of Herat and Kabul provinces received housing allowances. The UN agency, several aid agencies and NGOs are racing against time to provide vital aid to Afghans before winter.
