Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed her hope that a Taliban delegation would attend the “Moscow Format on Afghanistan”.
During a press briefing held on Thursday in St. Petersburg, Zakharova stressed that despite significant changes in the internal political situation in Afghanistan, the extended tripartite mechanism on the Afghan question and the “Moscow Format on the ‘Afghanistan’ still hold great importance.

“We expect a Taliban delegation to travel to Moscow next week to attend Moscow’s third coordination meeting on the Afghan issue,” Zakharova said.
On March 18, the Russian capital, Moscow, hosted an expanded trilateral meeting between Russia, the United States and China on the solution in Afghanistan, with the participation of representatives from Turkey, Qatar, Pakistan, the United States and China. ‘Afghanistan and the “Taliban”.
On August 15, the Taliban took control of almost all of Afghanistan, alongside the final stage of the US military withdrawal which was completed at the end of the same month.
